Learning at KidZania

"I hear and I forget. I see and I remember. I do and I understand." - Confucius

Values KidZania's Promise

We believe we can help promote change, inspire global citizenship and build strong community awareness among our children – 'the champions of our future' through an experience that is hands-on, engaging, educational, and most importantly, fun. The KidZania philosophy 'Get Ready for a Better World' captures the commitment to providing a fun and learning experience which prepares children to make a positive impact on society.

Experiential-learning Approach to Edutainment

By blending reality with entertainment, KidZania provides an authentic and powerful developmental experience, preparing kids to understand and manage their world. Through adult professions and hands-on exposure to the working world, kids learn the fundamentals of financial literacy and how society functions.

Kids learn the value of independence, empowerment, and leadership and become aware of the benefits of involvement in their communities. By offering a powerful developmental experience in which reality and entertainment intersect, KidZania empowers children life skills that help them understand and manage the world they are growing into.

From the KidZania perspective, edutainment has three main areas of focus:

  • Fun: make visitors enjoy their leisure time
  • Education: encourage kids to learn
  • Socialization: contribute to social improvement through the activities and make kids feel part of a community that can make the world a better place

Roleplay Aspects of Experiential Learning

This model implies direct learning by "doing". The concept is old, as Aristotle said: "The things we have to learn before we can do them we learn by doing them". The formal theory was first proposed by psychologist David Kolb: learning is "the process by which knowledge is created through the transformation of experience.

Knowledge results from the combinations of taking and transforming the experience. "It focuses on how experience, environmental factors and emotions influence the learning process, and certain skills are necessary: active participation in the experience, reflection skills, analysis, decision making and application of the knowledge acquired in solving problems, this theory was later validated by the work of Sir John Whitmore.

Experiential learning is the process of learning through experience, and is more specifically defined as "learning through reflection on doing". The figure below illustrates this process of learning by example which is carefully incorporated in each activity that your child experiences at our indoor theme park.
